Wormerland
The municipality of Wormerland is part of the Zaan region, but offers its own authenticity. Picturesque villages amid unique peat meadows, with flora and fauna you won't find anywhere else. But Wormerland also harbours the traces of a rich industrial past. The factory wall on the Zaan represents warehouses named after the cities with which trade was conducted. And the iconic Lassie factory still processes rice today.
The Wormer- and Jisperveld, the Beschuittoren, de Poelboerderij and a wide range of restaurants, Wormerland offers something for everyone. Curious? Start your voyage of discovery on this page and get inspired by the most beautiful routes and fun outings.

Canoe-map Wormer and Jisperveld
The Wormer- and Jisperveld is the largest connected peat meadow area in Western Europe. From a canoe, you can sail between the hundreds of islands and enjoy the special nature.
Almost all species of meadow birds found in the Netherlands breed here: godwit, lapwing, redshank, oystercatcher and meadow pipit. The wetlands are also home to rare plants such as sundew, heather, orchids and cuckoo flowers.
