The route runs along the water of the Zaan as much as possible. Where there used to be factories, residential complexes have now risen, resembling their predecessors in form and volume. On the old river dykes East and West you can still see the capital villas of the manufacturers while in the side streets many workers' houses have been built. All these side paths had ditches, almost all of which have been filled in. On the east side are neighbourhoods with social housing, west of the Zaan is more privately owned. Along the way, there are several vistas with beautiful views over the water. Some of the factories have been repurposed such as the former Verkade biscuit factory and the
Zwaardemaker's old groats pellerij.On the dead-end Stuurmanspad are pretty houses and even a farm.The ditch is also still
present.
