Pakhuis Geloof

The warehouses Faith and Memory (Veerdijk 57 and 59) are municipal monuments in Wormer, North Holland. Built in 1918, they reflect the flourishing industry of the Zaan region, at the time an important centre for the storage of grains and spices.

With their listed status, they are now valuable witnesses to the historical and architectural richness of the region. Although today they have often been converted to housing or other functions, they remain an essential part of the industrial heritage. Their names, "Faith" and "Memory," symbolise the values assigned to buildings at the time.

Although the brick outer walls suggest otherwise, the building has a reinforced concrete skeleton, typical of later factory construction. The warehouse measures 42 metres long and 12 metres wide and has a height of 23.5 metres and a gutter height of 18.5 metres.

The floor plan of 14 by 42 metres has a pattern of concrete columns in cross bond with cut joints, endure its drag construction preserved. The upper floor slabs rest on concrete beams, so the ground floor was used for fodder storage, while the upper floor served as seed storage.

Until 1971, ground floor was for storage, while the upper floor slabs served for seed storage.
