Looking for culture, creativity and surprising places? The Zaan region is bursting with hotspots where you can easily spend a whole day (or evening). From museums and exhibitions to theatre and live music; these are five places you definitely want to have seen.

Zaans Museum

If you really want to understand the Zaan region, start here. The Zaans Museum brings together the story of the region: from mills and masters to global brands that originated here. Hembrug site

Raw, creative and surprisingly green. The Hembrug area is a former defence site that has become a cultural sanctuary. Honig Breethuis

Step back in time at the Honig Breethuis, an atmospheric 18th-century residence on the Zaan. Here you will discover how a wealthy Zaan family used to live, complete with period rooms, personal stories and a beautiful waterside garden.
