both arteries is a public park that was opened by the young Queen Wilhelmina in 1899 and has borne her name ever since. It is one of the few privately owned parks in the Netherlands. Apart from iconic factories by Lassie, De Adelaar and Boon, among others, the walk also includes two unusual residential courtyards. The general cemetery (a municipal monument since 2017) is worth a visit because it contains the oldest trees in the region, in which blue herons nest in large numbers. In the summer months, the terrace of Bakkie Leut aan de Zaan is open where you can heerlijk a drink and the view over the Zaan.
