Schaalsmeerpolder walking route in the Wormer-en Jisperveld
1 hour 29 minutes (4.4 km)Between Oostknollendam and Wormer, you can walk right through the beautiful Wormer-en Jisperveld: the largest contiguous area of peat meadows in Western Europe. A unique landscape full of vast meadows, narrow ditches, reed beds and, above all, lots of birds. The perfect spot in the Zaan region to find some peace and quiet and enjoy nature and sweeping views.
The walk starts at the car park, heading towards De Poelboerderij Visitor Centre. At the junction, turn left onto the walking route (turning right will take you to De Poelboerderij). Along the way, follow the green arrows of the walking route network.
Good to know: are you walking your dog? You’ll come across several cattle grids along the way. It’s not always possible to go round them, so please bear this in mind. We also ask that you keep dogs on the path and on a lead, so as to minimise disturbance to birds and other animals.
