Sultan Ahmet Moskee

Anyone driving through Zaandam can hardly miss it: the Sultan Ahmet Moskee. With its large dome and slender minarets, it is a real eye-catcher in the city. Inspired by classical Ottoman mosques, the building is a special contrast to the surrounding buildings.

The mosque is an important place for the Islamic community in Zaandam, but also symbolises the cultural diversity of the Zaan region. Besides daily prayers, activities are regularly organised here aimed at meeting and connecting. Sometimes there are also open moments when interested parties are welcome to learn more about the building and its background.

The Sultan Ahmet Moskee beautifully demonstrates how different cultures come together in the Zaan region and contributes to the colourful and multifaceted character of Zaandam. A striking place with its own clear identity.
